Would you like to develop the habit of keeping a sketchbook? This portable and easily accessible tool is a great way to stay on track with honoring your creativity and self expression. Anyone can develop this fun, healthy, creative, and relaxing habit. In this 6 session class you will be encouraged to attend to your sketchbook, keeping it nearby, or even carrying it with you, as much as possible. You will be guided and encouraged to move between the pages without harsh self judgment and criticism. Here’s where you can freely express yourself: sketch, draw and practice artistic techniques; plan and develop your creative ideas; capture moments of your day, travels and life experiences; experiment, play, explore subjects and themes that interest you; as well as make mistakes and learn from from them, all while developing and improving your creative and artistic skills beyond whatever level that you are at right now. Every sketchbook is as unique and individual as its keeper. Classes may include: an overview of mark making techniques; along with prompts, assignments and exercises to inspire and loosen you up; drawing from observation; sketching from nature; portraits and figure drawing; urban sketching; drawing from imagination; collage and mixed media. Newbies and beginners are welcome. A supply list will be provided upon registration and supplies are not included in the cost of the workshop.
Please note that our classes are typically held in the lower level of Arlene’s. Because access to the lower level is available only by stair, please let us know if using the stairs presents any difficulty for you in advance of the class so we can make alternate arrangements. We want to make sure everyone is able to enjoy and participate in our classes.
