December 14, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Preregistration is required to attend all classes and workshops at Arlene’s. Space is limited so please register soon. Click the link to register online. Otherwise, please come into the store, at 57 Fuller Rd Albany NY, or call us, (518) 482-8881, to reserve your space.
Fabric dyes create bright, luminous color on natural fabrics without changing their soft feel. With Gelli plate printing, painting and stamping we will work loosely to build up pattern and layer colors with thickened dyes. Learn how fiber reactive dyes bond to fabric, and how this differs from paint. You will see how the colors layer and influence each other. Dyes will be messy and can stain clothing, dress appropriately and bring a pair or two of latex gloves to protect your hands. Your printed fabrics may not be ready to wash out before class time ends, so bring a couple of plastic bags to carry your work home. Supplies are included in the cost of this workshop.
Kathy is owner of Ragged Edge Printmaking Studio in Cohoes, NY. After studying fiber arts in college, she studied with a variety of teachers to gain a strong working knowledge of many fiber related techniques. Her signature one of a kind scarves are sold locally at venues such as Arlene’s Artist Materials, Departures Galley, Albany Center Gallery and Micropolis Gallery.
Please note that our classes are typically held in the lower level of Arlene’s. Because access to the lower level is available only by stair, please let us know if using the stairs presents any difficulty for you in advance of the class so we can make alternate arrangements. We want to make sure everyone is able to enjoy and participate in our classes.
