Maya DeVitry & Courtney Hartman
January 30 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Two songwriters fully attuned to their inner and outer world join forces for a night of transcendent lyrics and musicianship. Formerly of The Stray Birds, Maya DeVitry took a year off following the 2018 break up the band. The break resulted in a deep dive into themes of forgiveness, sovereignty and wholeness, and a re-emergence with two profoundly beautiful albums of new songs. DeVitry’s rich, unique voice and elegant fiddle accompany her “intensely personal, microscopic style of storytelling with a straightforward, accessible delivery.” (Folk Alley)
Della Mae guitarist Courtney Hartman is a perfect match for DeVitry and the two have co-written and recorded together over the past couple years. Hartman’s music is distinguished by hushed simplicity, improvisatory freedom, and flashes of symphonic splendor. Immersed in the bluegrass world since childhood, the Grammy-nominated Hartman released her first solo album, Ready Reckoner, in 2019.
Before the show there will be a podcast interview with Maya & Courtney for Hangin’ & Sangin’, a podcast and radio show hosted by music journalist Kelly McCartney.
