Local Legends, Live Interview with Dan Kirsner
July 13 @ 4:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Dan Kirsner, in 1974 went to Nashville to Radio College while he was discovered by Roger Miller who then told Del Reeves and Billy Walker about him. A few weeks later they came to see him perform and decided to help get him a band and begin his career. The band became known as the number one opening act of country stars of that time. They opened for Del Reeves, Billy Walker, George Jones, Conway Twitty, Tammy Wynett, among others. In 1980 Del Reeves brought him to The Grand Ole Opry, where he appeared 5 times in his career. His band toured for 15 years, 200 plus days a year. Then in march of 1991 his band was tragically killed in a accident. From then until 2015 he did not appear publicly on stage. Then in 2015 on new years eve he put on a guitar and went back to work. He has worked in recording studios doing demo work all the years he was not on the stage. In 2017 he released his first cd in many years and earned a number 3 spot in jango radios top 100 and he knew it was time to get real again. Its been quite a ride of honor this last year as he has made it to his 50th year in the business.
