Top Tips for Live Music (for the week beginning February 15th)
New York State has greenlit stadiums and arenas to open up at (for now) 10% capacity. The Times Union Center has about 15,000 capacity, which means they could hold a concert with about 1500 in attendance, which would be a little more than the Troy Music Hall normally hosts. And if it’s eventually upped to 25%, you’re back to the biggest indoor capacity in Nippertown. So what do you say, can we get some theatre-level shows in there?

Best bet: Matt McCabe, longtime owner of Saratoga Guitar, was a big presence on the local music scene. Sadly, he fell victim to Covid-19 on January 12. On Saturday, Caffe Lena is hosting an online memorial with tributes, photos, and performances in celebration of “Matt McCabe Day” in Saratoga. If you had occasion to know Matt, this is where you’ll be.
