Top Tips for Live Music (for the week beginning January 25th)

0

Welcome to “Top Tips”, Do It Yourself Edition.  This is probably the lightest week for live music since the pandemic began.  Caffe Lena is (understandably) in “Safe Mode” and The Linda is just finishing out theirs (they will both be back live streaming in February).  Many venues that managed to scrape by through the fall have shut down entirely for the winter.  Thankfully, several Nippertown artists have been producing their own online shows on a regular basis.  Sean Rowe, Erin Harkes, Jocelyn & Chris, Sirsy, and others…if you haven’t yet checked these out, you should.  They are a lot of fun.

Hollis Brown at the Falcon through February

Best bet: Feeling cooped?  Seasonal Affective Disorder?  Here’s a suggestion – take a mini-road trip down to the Falcon this Saturday, and check out Hollis Brown as they begin their residency there.  The Queens-based band is named after the Bob Dylan song, and straddles the space between Americana and Rock quite well.  So take a drive, enjoy dinner and a night out (you must have dinner reservations and Covid-distanced seatings are limited), and shake off those winter blues.  And for God’s sake, don’t forget to make a donation.
