Joining Duke (guitar and vocals) that night are regular band members Bruce Bears (piano, Hammond organ); Brad Hallen (acoustic and electric bass); and Mark Teixeira (drums); plus Duke’s former Roomful of Blues mates on horns: Rich Lataille, Greg Piccolo and Doug James. Vocalists Chris Cote and Michelle Willson will also be there.
There is no admission charge, but donations will be encouraged through PayPal or Venmo.
Blues Bash is the latest album from Robillard, a two time Grammy winner. Robillard says of the record: “packed with plenty of bright sounding Fender guitar a la Ike Turner, Lefty Bates, etc. Just a good listening or dancing record like the blues records I bought when I was a kid. It was pretty much a reunion of sorts and I wanted the material to be simple, straight-ahead ‘50s style blues and R&B… Basically it’s a blues party album and that feeling is what I wanted to convey.”
Chris Wheatly reviewed the album in Rock and Blues Muse: “The new album from legendary guitarist and songwriter Duke Robillard is as honest a record as you could ask for. Blues Bash with Duke Robillard & Friends makes a virtue of its simplicity…. straight-ahead ‘50s style blues and R&B, a compilation of classic tracks from that era. For any blues/roots fan, Blues Bash with Duke Robillard & Friends is something to treasure, a journey into another world that will carry you effortlessly across an ocean of soulful sounds.”
