The Music Industry Observes Black Out Tuesday

On Tuesday, June 2, a number of major players in the music industry will observe a ‘Black Out Tuesday,’ refraining from work in solidarity with the nationwide protests following the death of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis Police Department.

“We stand in solidarity with the Black community, our artists, employees, colleagues and community leaders in fighting racial injustice and inequality,” reads a statement from Sony Music. “This will be a day of action committed to meaningful change in our communities both now and in the future.”

“This is not a day off,” explains a post by Columbia Records. “Instead this is a day to reflect and figure out ways to move forward in solidarity… Perhaps with the music off, we can truly listen.”
