RIP: Jimmy Cobb, Legendary Jazz Drummer (1929-2020)
An era has passed. Legendary jazz drummer Jimmy Cobb passed away last night. He was 91. He was the last surviving member of the band that played on the seminal Miles Davis recording “Kind of Blue” recorded in 1959.
He has appeared on Miles Davis recording sessions as well as those by Cannonball Adderly, Nat Adderly, Wes Montgomery, Geri Allen, John Coltrane, Joe Henderson, Sarah Vaughan, and countless others, as well as, those under his own name. He remained active on the scene. Last year he released “This I Dig of You”(Smoke Sessions Records).
