1902: Electric Theatre – Los Angeles’ first motion picture theater – opened.
1956: Daytime dramas “The Edge of Night” and “As the World Turns” debuted on CBS-TV.
1964: The Beach Boys recorded their first #1 hit, “I Get Around.” They also fired their manager, Murry Wilson, the father of three of the band members.
1965: Freddie & the Dreamers recorded “Do The Freddie.”
1966: Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass became the first act with four albums in the Top 10 simultaneously. In 1966 Alpert’s albums spent more weeks at No. 1 than The Beatles’.
1967: Steve Winwood left the Spencer Davis Group to form Traffic.
1972: Burt Reynolds appeared nude in Cosmopolitan magazine.
1978: The first episode of “Dallas” was broadcast on CBS-TV.
