Feed Albany Established to Support Capital Region During COVID 19 Crisis
Feed Albany, an initiative led by a group of Capital Region business owners and officials, has been established in response to COVID-19 restrictions and its effects on the New York’s Capital Region and local businesses.
With the help of donations, the program aims to provide at-risk and at-need individuals with packaged meal solutions and to provide limited financial relief to unemployed restaurant workers by employing them to prepare and distribute food throughout Albany and the Capital Region.
Feed Albany was co-founded by the following individuals:
Jason & Kay Pierce, owners of Savoy Taproom
Dominick Purnomo, wine director & co-owner of Yono’s & dp An American Brasserie
Joe Bonilla, managing partner and co-founder of Relentless Awareness
Matthew T. Peter, executive director of the Albany Parking Authority and an Albany County Legislator
100 percent of donations to Feed Albany will be used to purchase food for use in prepared meal solutions, purchase containers and packaging for the prepared meals and to provide limited financial assistance to recently unemployed restaurant workers who will be volunteering to prepare and distribute food at various locations throughout the Capital District. Donations should be sent through the GoFundMe page at gofundme.com/f/feed-albany-covid19-relief.
Feed Albany will be providing free and low-cost prepared meal solutions to at-risk and in-need Capital District residents. The prepared meal solutions will be distributed via delivery and pickup at locations throughout the Capital District and will be ready for distribution by Friday, March 20, 2020.
