Cherish the Ladies Celebrating Celtic Music at Caffe Lena March 8
One of the most highly regarded groups in Celtic music, the all-female collective Cherish the Ladies was born out of a brief concert series aimed at increasing the exposure of Irish-American women in the then-male-dominated Celtic music scene.
Behind leader Joanie Madden, these ladies create an evening that includes a spectacular blend of virtuoso instrumental talents, beautiful vocals, captivating arrangements, and stunning step dancing. Their continued success as one of the top Celtic groups in the world is due to the ensembles ability to take the best of Irish traditional music and dance and put it forth in an immensely entertaining show. The New York Times calls their music “passionate, tender, and rambunctious,” and the Washington Post praises their “astonishing array of virtuosity.”
With two shows (one at 4 pm, and a later evening show at 7 pm), Caffe Lena will be serving up coffee, tea, scones, and other tasty treats for the music fans who attend. Tickets are on sale now here.
