Club Zambezi Dance Party February 14 & 15
Do you like to dance? If so, then this is the perfect event for you! The Williams College Department will be presenting the Club Zambezi Dance Party. Led by Artist in Residence in African Music Performance Tendai Muparutsa, this group of young performers promises to heat up the dance floor in the midst of the winter.
The first Club Zambezi Dance Party will take place in the Center Stage of the ‘62 Center for Theater and Dance at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14. If you cannot make it to the first performance, do not fret! There is another performance the very next day on Saturday, February 15th at 2 p.m.
Founded in 1992, Zambezi was originally inspired by traditional Zimbabwean marimba bands. However, Club Zambezi Dance Party offers a combination of an exciting musical fusion with irresistible dance beats. The Zambezi group has an even wider range than its African marimba-band cousins, even performing on specially designed and custom made marimbas. Zambezi’s hybrid instruments are capable of playing a huge variety of music including traditional and contemporary dance music. There is no band or set of instruments like these anywhere else in the world.
So, bring yourself, bring a friend, and bring the family to listen and dance to the amazing music of Zambezi Marimba Band!
CenterStage at the ’62 Center is located at 1000 Main Street on the Williams College campus. A map can also be found at www.williams.edu/home/campusmap/.
