Chris’s Short Take: Lime Leaf Thai Bistro opens in Troy
January 28th marked the Grand Opening of Troy’s latest restaurant, the Lime Leaf Thai Bistro. Mayor Patrick Madden, County Legislator Carole Weaver, Hannah Zinoman from the County Executive’s office, and Katie Hammon of Downtown Troy Business Improvement all were on the scene to wish the new endeavor good luck.
“Food in Troy is very approachable, in terms of both variety and price. You can eat from a different continent every night here!”Patrick Madden, Mayor of Troy
Kiawdao (May) Dongkhan-Rezey, originally from Udonthani, Thailand, has taken over the space formerly occupied by Chom’s at 32 4th Street. The restaurant will feature Thai home-style cooking. Originally coming to the area to pursue a special certification in Biotech after receiving her bachelor’s degree in Thailand, May has wanted to start a restaurant in the area for a very long time. She had come up with the name and logo some ten years ago.
May prepares her herbs and spices by hand in a mortar and pestle, using herbs from her garden, and recipes for sauces handed down in her family for generations. The space sports high ceilings, Thai art, and currently has no liquor license, so bring your own libations. More coming on this, watch this space.
