Chris’s Short Take: Little Peck’s (Brunch in Troy)
It’s been almost three years since the culinary and hospitality duo of Vic Christopher and Heather LaVine repurposed a space previously occupied by a gourmet shop into what is today little pecks, the less formal sibling to Peck’s Arcade on Broadway in Troy. Easy to walk right by, if it weren’t for the sandwich board sign on the street, but when you step inside the layout just makes sense.
Walk in, order at the counter, take your little order number stand to your table and wait for the friendly folks to bring you your meal.
Here’s my wife’s choice, Avocado Toast with Cashew Chili Chutney, Pickled Shallots and Carrots and crunchy Cashew Bits.
And my choice of Smoked Salmon Toast with Sesame Cream Cheese, Pickled Shallots and Chili Crisps.
The interior is a montage of back alley funk and hidden gardens…
It’s FUN, it’s full of students, downtown characters, and in the know shoppers. People talking in front of the fireplace, kids playing Uno… life’s good! I’ll be the guy in the corner with the Smoked Salmon Toast exploring the concept of Blood Orange Mimosas.

A funky example of post-industrial Troy water sculpture… I call it “Leaky Ol’ Pipe”.
