Troy Foundry Theatre Presenting “A Shadow That Broke the Light,” Performance about Opioid Crisis Dec 18-20

Troy Foundry Theatre presents “A Shadow That Broke the Light,” a world premiere performance installation in response to the opioid crisis. This one-man show is written and performed by multi Barrymore Award-winning actor Charlie DelMarcelle, directed by Troy Foundry Theatre Artistic Director David Girard, and features the artwork of activist printmaker Adam DelMarcelle at Collar Works Gallery in Troy.

Over the course of the performance installation, Charlie will share first person accounts collected from the family and friends of victims of the current drug crisis.  He will also share, for the first time, his thoughts on the loss of his and Adam’s younger brother Joey to a heroin overdose in 2014.  Adam and Charlie have been on the front lines addressing this epidemic in a variety of ways and this piece will serve as a living memorial for those who have gone, those who have been left behind, and those who we may never know.

Troy Foundry Theatre is partnering with two local organizations on the front lines of fighting the Opioid crisis for this project: CDPHP® The Foundation and NØPIATES of West Sand Lake.  We will have two paid performances of “A Shadow That Broke The Light” in an effort to raise funds for these two organization, and culminate with a free/pay-what-you-will 24-hour performance of the installation starting December 20 at 7pm and ending December 21 at 7pm.  Representatives from each organization will be present on their respective evenings with information and resources available to the public.
