Stay Healthy: Chair Yoga at Galway Senior Center


Chair yoga is now being offered at 11am on Mondays at the Galway Senior Center. Chair yoga is a form of yoga that allows participants to practice many traditional yoga poses without needing the strength to get on the ground or hold standing poses for long periods of time.

Our yogi, Sharyn, led over 20 senior ladies and about 5 younger ladies in chair yoga practice.  Most participants are members of the Galway Senior Center and were very welcoming, and new students are always welcome in this class.

Having practiced chair yoga in the past, I had a leg up (literally) on the yoga positions.  This class is ideal for those who are new to the practice, low mobility, and those seeking a way to expand their yoga practice with focus on breath and mindfulness. Everyone is encouraged to practice at his or her own pace.
