Driftwood to Rock the River in Troy
The Downtown Troy Business Improvement District announced that Driftwood is performing as part of the downtown Troy Rockin’ on the River concert series in Riverfront Park. The band takes the stage Wednesday, June 26th with Opening Act The Sea The Sea.
Driftwood is an Americana/Folk-Rock band from Binghamton, New York that was formed in 2005. Their music has been described variously as “fusing traditional Americana and with contemporary influences and timeless subject matter.” Driftwood’s debut album, the self-produced “Rally Day”, was independently released in 2009. They released their second studio effort, “A Rock & Roll Heart”, under the Old Boy Records label in 2011. In late 2013, they released “Driftwood”, a fan-funded, self-produced and independently released album. Recorded with Grammy-winning engineer Robby Hunter, the album earned them spots on national radio shows including NPR’s Mountain Stage and Music City Roots. The video for “The Sun’s Going Down”, a single cut from the album, was featured on CMT.com. In 2014, they released their first live album, “Live at Grassroots 2014”. It was recorded at the 2014 Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music and Dance.
Opening act The Sea The Sea is a nationally touring, Upstate New York based indie folk-pop duo-band featuring what Huffington Post calls, “Two of the loveliest male-female voices you might ever hear this or any other year.” Their 2014 debut release, Love We Are We Love, received praise from NPR, American Songwriter, and No Depression, among others, gathering over 15 million streams on Spotify. The animated video for their song “Waiting” sparked viral interest including Buzzfeed, Pitchfork, and inclusion at the international TED 2015 conference. Their 2016 release, the six-song EP In the Altogether, earned features by Apple Music including “Best of the Week” and “A-List Singer/Songwriter .
