Capital Region Blues Network 2019 Challenge Set for Sunday, July 21st
The Capital Region Blues Network presents the 2019 Band Challenge held at the Linda in Albany, New York July 21st, at 3:30 pm. The event features some of the best blues musicians in the area competing to participate in the International Blues Competition. The contestants will be competing for the opportunity to represent the Capital Region Network (CRBN) at the International Blue’s Foundation Challenge in Memphis Tennessee in January 2020. The winner not only gets the chance to travel to Memphis and participate in the competition, but a fifteen hundred dollar cash prize for a band or seven-hundred-fifty dollar cash prize for a solo or duo act and premium guitar setups from Kokotele Guitar Works for each guitarist/bassist in the winning band. This year the competitors are Agape Blues Company and Wyld Blu. There will also be a performance from this years’ Youth Act, the Young Wildcats.
Last years winners, Misty Blues, went on to be the 2018 finalists in Memphis. This year’s contestants have very distinct sounds of their own and are looking for their shot going to Memphis. Wyld Blu features many different styles in their music from classic Texas blues, rock, and boogie to even a dash of country. Agape Blues Company is a gospel blues group with the desire to praise God and share the gospel message through their music. The Capital Region Blues Network strives to uphold blues as a flourishing form of art in the Capital Region. The group accomplishes this objective by promoting concerts, providing opportunities for local musicians to practice and perfect their skills, and they provide a multitude of educational and philanthropic programs for musicians wanting to grow.
