MUSIC: Marcia Ball @ the Iron Horse Music Hall, Northampton. The Texas-born, Louisiana-raised musical storyteller and piano pounder has earned worldwide fame for her ability to ignite a full-scale roadhouse rhythm and blues party every time she strolls onto the stage. 7pm. $25.
DISCUSSION: “Accelerator Series: On Navigating Forgiveness, Redemption, and Rejection” @ Skidmore College’s Tang Museum, Saratoga Springs. The conversation will be moderated by Tang Curator-at-Large Isolde Brielmaier and features artist Alexandra Bell, who is known for her Counternarratives series in which she edits and alters news stories, often from The New York Times, prints them out in large formats and plasters them on city walls as a way to expose bias in journalism; the artist Lyle Ashton Harris, whose diverse artistic practices include photography, collage, installation and performance art to explore intersections between the personal and the political, examining the social and cultural impact of ethnicity, gender and desire; and Skidmore College Professor of Sociology and Director of the Project on Restorative Justice David Karp, whose scholarship focuses on restorative justice in community and educational settings. 6pm. FILM: “Waiting to Exhale” @ the Palace Theatre, Albany. Based on Terry McMillan’s novel, this 1995 film follows four very different African-American women and their relationships with the male gender. 7pm. $5.
