First Night Saratoga – the family friendly celebration that takes place in Saratoga Springs on New Year’s Eve – is celebrating its 23rd anniversary this year, and the organizers have planned a jam-packed evening of entertainment, fun and fireworks.

The Monday, December 31 festivities begin with the First Night 5k roadrace at Skidmore College at 5:30pm and wrap up with the traditional 12midnight fireworks display in Congress Park. In between, you’ll find 30 venues throughout the city offering a night full of live music, dance, comedy, magic and even a few fortune tellers to predict what’s in store for you in 2019.

Last year, First Night Saratoga tried something different with the headliners, eschewing music for a magician, a mentalist and a juggler. This year, however, music is back in the spotlight. On the mainstage in the City Center, regional rising star, Sydney Worthley will get you dancing to kick off the night with her soulful voice and upbeat original numbers. Next up, Woodstock’s popular Professor Louie & The Crowmatix will take the stage with the Woodstock Horns to present the lost tracks of The Band. And back by popular demand, Sawyer Fredericks will close out the last two hours of 2018 with his own brand of American roots straight from his new album before he leads the countdown into the New Year.

But that’s just a small part of the evening’s festivities which features more than 70 different performing groups, including Sirsy, Ramblin Jug Stompers, Mountain Mayhem, Bovine Social Club, the Hetko, Siegel & Syracuse Trio, Belle-Skinner, Big Fez & The Surfmatics, Mark Tolstrup, Paradox Saints, Elvis tribute artist Matthew Boyce, Ustad Shafaat Khan, Hot Club of Saratoga, Robert Capowski and a whole lot more…
