EMPAC Presents Kinetic Light’s Exciting New Dance Work, “Descent” [Berkshire on Stage]

0

On Thursday & Friday (November 15 & 16), EMPAC at RPI in Troy presents choreographer and disability arts innovator Alice Sheppard with her company Kinetic Light for two performances of the dance work “Descent.”

Inspired by the writings and art of French sculptor Auguste Rodin, “Descent” gives the mythological characters Venus and Andromeda new life as interracial lovers. Sheppard and fellow dancer Laurel Lawson perform these characters in and out of the wheelchairs they use in life, demonstrating a spectrum of new movement possibilities while creating a signature choreographic language. “Descent” is performed on a ramp-like stage designed with hills, curves and peaks that facilitate the exploration of velocity, precarity and intimacy in performance.

PLUS: We are giving away a pair of FREE TICKETS to the Friday performance of “Descent.” GO HERE to enter…
