Brothers Chris (upright bass) and Oliver Wood (guitars), as well as multi-instrumentalist Jano Rix, have played numerous concerts both big and small throughout Greater Nippertown, but tonight is their Troy Music Hall debut. MUSIC: Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. The California-based group began as rockabilly revivalists in the 1980’s, pulling together music from rock & roll, honky-tonk, rhythm & blues, soul and doo-wop. With 14 albums under their belt and a spot in the Rockabilly Hallof Fame, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys have gained a devoted following and show no sign of slowing down. 7pm. $24.
MUSIC: The T’N’T Tour: Tommy Castro & The Painkillers and Tinsley Ellis @ The Egg, Albany. An explosive blues double-bill with Castro and Ellis each performing a full headline-length set. 8pm. $34-$44.

THEATER: Casse Noisette (The Nutcracker) @ Bridge Street Theatre, Catskill. The world premiere of Philadelphia-based playwright Michael Whistler’s brilliant, funny and touching play is described by its author as “the story of a very quiet man and some very loud music,” masterfully interweaving the life of Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky with that of a deeply-closeted modern-day American high school teacher obsessed with Tchaikovsky’s music. MUSIC/JAM SESSION: Blues Pro Jam @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. The region’s top musicians will join together for an evening of jamming.
