In Woodstock, Levon Helm Studios hosts Elizabeth Mitchell & Amy Helm’s The Sounding Joy – a Christmas concert to benefit the Washbourne House – at 8pm Friday, December 21. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $45 & $75. And the Midnight Ramble Band will be on hand to ring in the new year at 9pm on Monday, December 31. Tickets are $85 & $125.

IT’S A FAMILY AFFAIR: James Taylor and his daughter Sally Taylor are teaming up for an intimate concert at MASS MoCA’s Hunter Center to benefit arts education programs at the museum. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10:30am on Friday (November 9).

Next up on the Capital District Jazz’s Jazz at the Spring concert series is the trio featuring Kendra Shank, John Stowell and Mark Kleinhaut, who will take over the intimate Spring Street Gallery in Saratoga Springs at 7:30pm on Thursday, November 29. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $15.

IT’S A FAMILY AFFAIR, PART II: Rufus Wainwright’s January 18 concert at The Egg’s Swyer Theatre has also become a family affair with the addition of his half-sister Lucy Wainwright Roche as the opening act.

Dying Fetus headlines at Clifton Park’s Upstate Concert Hall on Friday, February 22. Greater Nippertown faves Brick by Brick are also slated to play, celebrating the release of their new CD. Rounding out the bill will be Ramallah, Assault on the Living, Snapmare and Close to Nothing. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $23 in advance; $25 at the door.

IT’S A FAMILY AFFAIR, PART III: Need more Wainwright? Loudon Wainwright III, Suzzy Roche and their daughter Lucy Wainwright Roche all team up for a night at Colony in Woodstock at 8pm on Friday, December 7. Advance tickets are on sale now, priced at $35 & $50; $5 more at the door. PS: Dad Loudon Wainwright III plays the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall on Saturday (November 10) as David Bromberg’s opening act.

At Club Helsinki in Hudson, the Big Takeover takes over on Saturday, December 29 with Root Shock opening the show at 8:30pm. Tickets go on sale at 12noon on Friday (November 9), priced at $15. And New Year’s Eve will feature the Chops ‘n Sauerkraut Trio and Lara Hope & The Ark-Tones at 8pm on Monday, December 31. Tickets are $25, $35 & $45.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Led by brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson, the North Mississippi Allstars are headed into the Cohoes Music Hall in support of their latest album, Prayer for Peace. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (November 9).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Ticket prices – ranging from $34.95 to a whopping $225.95 – have been announced for the upcoming Times Union Center concert by popstar Ariana Grande, who has just been named Billboard’s Woman of the Year.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Reality TV star Luann de Lesseps is bringing her “Countess and Friends” cabaret show to The Egg. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday (November 9).
