Nominees Announced for the Berkshire Theatre Awards

Barrington Stage Company’s “The Royal Family of Broadway” leads the field with 30 nominations.

The Berkshire Theatre Critics Association has announced the nominees for the third annual Berkshire Theatre Awards with 82 nominees competing for 21 awards. Nearly 460 different artists and qualifying productions that opened between October 15, 2017 and September 30, 2018 in theaters in Berkshire County, Columbia County, southern Vermont, northern Connecticut and New York’s Capital Region were eligible for nomination.

In addition, a special award will be selected by the Board of the Association in memory of the awards’ founder, critic Larry Murray. This special award is for service to the community by a theater company or theater professional.

The Barrington Stage Company in Pittsfield led the field with 30 nominations overall, including nominations in 18 of the 21 categories of competition. The most nominated production was Barrington Stage Company’s The Royal Family of Broadway, which garnered 11 nominations overall, including Outstanding New Musical and Outstanding Musical Production.

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony to be held on Monday, November 12 at 7pm at the Zion Lutheran Church in Pittsfield. The awards ceremony is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. Reservations can be made by phoning 413-822-7384.
