Veteran singer-songwriter David Wilcox is headed into The Linda in Albany at 8pm on Saturday, November 17 in support of his new album, The View from the Edge. And as we’ve mentioned previously, opening the show will be Lonesome Val & the Lonesome Units, which is in reality a reunion of four original members of Greater Nippertown’s beloved ’80s band The Units/Fear of Strangers. Tickets for the concert are on sale now, priced at $25.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The all-star Experience Hendrix Tour is headed into Albany’s Palace Theatre featuring Billy Cox, Joe Satriani, Dave Mustaine, Jonny Lang, Dweezil Zappa, Eric Johnson, Taj Mahal and many others. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am Friday (October 19).
Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park has announced three new concerts – red-hot rapper Gunna at 8pm on Friday, October 19 ($50 in advance; $60 at the door); rapidly rising Local 518 hip-hopster Souly Had + Entreband at 8pm Friday, November 23 ($13 in advance; $15 at the door); and indie rock faves Dr. Dog with the Nude Party at 8pm Wednesday, February 13 ($20 for the first 300 tickets; $25 thereafter; on sale at 10am Friday).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Fab funnymen Stave Martin and Martin Short are teaming up for “Now You See Them, Soon You Won’t” at Proctors in Schenectady. The laugh-filled comedy night will also be spiced by music from the Grammy Award winning bluegrass group the Steep Canyon Rangers and pianist Jeff Babko. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am Friday (October 19).
Expect an evening of deep cuts and soul classics with special guests at Amy Helm’s Soul Night. at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock at 8pm Friday, November 23. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $45 & $65.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT MASS MoCA in North Adams has announced the dates for the 2018 edition of the three-day Solid Sound festival headlined, as always, by Wilco. Tickets go on sale at 11am on Thursday (October 18).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT Umphrey’s McGee is bringing their Wax On, Wax Off Tour to the Palace Theatre with Robert Walter’s 20th Congress opening the show. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 11am on Friday (October 19).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT Stand-up comedian Bert Kreischer’s recently announced show at The Egg’s Hart Theatre sold out in a flash, so a second show has been added to his Albany tour stop. Tickets for the new show go on sale at 10am Friday (October 19).
In Schenectady, Rivers Casino & Resort has added a couple of tribute shows to its Event Center calendar – The Spirit of Johnny Cash at 7pm on Wednesday, November 14 ($30 includes dinner) and In the Light of Led Zeppelin at 8pm on Saturday, November 17.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT The Troy Savings Bank Music Hall will once again play host to WGNA’s Jingle Jam, this year featuring contemporary county stars Rodney Atkins and Craig Campbell. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am Friday (October 19).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Weezer and Pixies are teaming up for a double-bill at the Times Union Center. Tickets are on sale now.
CH-CH-CH-CHANGES: The concert by young piano virtuoso Ethan Bortnick was originally scheduled for Sunday, October 28 at 3pm at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, but there’s been in change in venue. The concert will now be held at the College of St. Rose’s Massry Center for the Arts in Albany. The date, time and ticket prices ($34; students $20) remain the same.

The Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton has added new concerts by jazz guitar master Stanley Jordan at 7pm Saturday, November 10 ($25 in advance; $30 at the door); blues veterans the James Montgomery Band with the Mighty KingSnakes at 7pm Friday, November 16 ($15 in advance; $18 at the door); Hayley Jane & The Primates at 10pm Saturday, December 1 ($10 in advance; $13 at the door); Mali music masters Habib Koite & Bassekou Kouyate at 7pm Tuesday, March 12 ($29.50 in advance; $30 at the door); The The Band Band at 7pm Saturday, April 6 ($25 in advance; $28 at the door).
