THEATER: 33 Variations @ Skidmore College’s Black Box Theater, Saratoga Springs. Marie Glotzbach directs Moises Kaufman’s play that simultaneously examines the creative process behind Beethoven’s “Diabelli Variations” and the journey of a musicologist to discover the meaning behind why Beethoven was compelled to write 33 distinct variations on a simple theme by a minor music publisher. 8pm. STORYTELLING: On the Fly Story Slam @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. The monthly On the Fly story slam marks its first anniversary with a Grand Slam. Standout storytellers from the past year will vie for the “Grand Slam” title being awarded by a panel of local judges. 7pm.

THEATER: Menopause: The Musical @ Proctors’ GE Theatre, Schenectady. In this musical parody set to classic tunes from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s, four women at a lingerie sale have nothing in common but a black lace bra and memory loss, hot flashes, night sweats, not enough sex, too much sex, and more. 7:30pm. TALK: Gülru Çakmak @ Clark Art Institute, Williamstown. The Florence Gould Foundation Fellow presents the talk, “Painting, Photography and the Long Duration of History in Osman Hamdi’s Paintings.” 5:30pm.
