MUSIC: Park Jiha @ EMPAC at RPI, Troy. The acclaimed Korean composer-musician will perform with her quartet, one of only two American concerts (along with the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC) on a world tour in support of her captivating new album Communion. The music blends classical minimalism and improvised music with traditional Korean instruments including the piri (double-reed bamboo flute), saenghwang (bamboo mouth organ) and yanggeum (hammered dulcimer). 7:30pm. $18; $13 seniors & students. THEATER: The Royale @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany. It’s opening night! Inspired by the true story of trailblazing boxer Jack Johnson, the drama bristles with the thrilling rapid-fire dialogue and rhythmic punctuation of playwright Marco Ramirez (Netflix’s “Daredevil,” “Orange Is the New Black”). This powerhouse play brings to explosive life the ultimate fight for a man’s place in history. 7:30pm. Through Sunday, October 14.

TALK: “Truth and Nature in British Art” @ Clark Art Institute, Williamstown. Frédéric Ogée will survey British artists’ writings from 1700–1920, bringing out the priorities and values shared by those artists and the ways in which they addressed artistic “truth to nature” in relation to contemporary scientific discourse. 5:30pm.
