THEATER: “Catastrophe Carnivale: An Evening of Beckett Shorts” @ the Gasholder Building, Troy. The envelope-pushing Troy Foundry Theatre kicks off its sophomore season with Krapp’s Last Tape and a handful of others short plays – Act Without Words I & II, Catastrophe, Come and Go and Play – from the pen of Samuel Beckett. 8pm. $18; seniors $15; students $10. MUSIC: Ani DiFranco @ The Egg’s Hart Theatre, Albany. The self-proclaimed “little folksinger” returns in support of her 20th studio album, Binary. With Peter Mulvey. 8pm. $35.

DANCE/POETRY/MUSIC: Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company @ UAlbany Performing Arts Center, Albany. A program of repertory dance made in collaboration with current and past UAlbany faculty featuring original music by Joel Chadabe, projected art by Thom O’Connor, a live poetry reading by Pierre Joris and science inspired dance along with a premiere work to live music performed by ensemble in residence, the Capital Trio. 7:30pm. $20; students & seniors $15.

MUSIC: Popa Chubby @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. The big, bruisin’ blues behemoth is back. 7pm. $27.

DANCE: “Metamorphosis” @ Skidmore College’s Tang Museum, Saratoga Springs. The world premiere of a dance choreographed by Skidmore College Assistant Professor of Dance Jason Ohlberg in response to Lari Pittman’s painting “Once a Noun, Now a Verb #1” in the exhibition Give a damn.With a Q&A. 6 & 6:30pm.
