Lonesome Val & Those Lonesome Units reunite at The Linda

Singer-songwriter David Wilcox steps into the spotlight The Linda in Albany on Saturday, November 17. But for longtime Greater Nippertown music fans the big news is the opening act – Lonesome Val & Those Lonesome Units, which in reality is something of a Fear of Strangers reunion with Val Haynes, Al Kash, Todd Nelson and Steve Cohen. Tickets are $25 in advance; $30 at the door.

Led by guitarist Eddie Munoz, ’80 power pop icons The Plimsouls – with Cait O’Riordan of The Pogues on bass – are headed into the Hangar on the Hudson in Troy for a matinee on Saturday, October 13. Smittix and Trailer Park Moonlight kick off the bash at 3pm. Tickets are $10 in advance; $15 at the door.

Chrome in Waterford is hosting “Saratoga Winners Reunion #3: The Final Chapter” at 5pm on Saturday, April 6. A benefit for Noah’s Kingdom Humane Society, the bash will feature five bands (TBA) from Winners’ glory days. Tickets are $15 in advance; $20 at the door.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Following his performance at Albany’s Alive at Five concert series this summer, Matisyahu returns to Greater Nippertown for a concert at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Thursday (August 30).

The Eighth Step is taking over Proctors’ The Addy in Schenectady to launch its fall season with concerts by Tret Fure at 7:30pm on Saturday September 15 ($26 & $40 in advance) and Phil Ochs Song Night (also celebrating Magpie’s 45th musical anniversary) with Greg Greenway, Reggie Harris, Magpie and Pat Wictor at 7:30pm on Saturday, September 22 ($26 & $50 in advance).

Next up on Capital District Jazz’s Jazz at the Spring concert series is the Giroux Brothers Quintet, who take the stage of Saratoga Springs’ Spring Street Gallery at 7:30pm on Thursday, September 27. Tickets are $15 in advance; $20 at the door.

Bop Island Jazz Festival presents a concert series at the Woodstock Playhouse featuring the Peter Bernstein Quartet at 8pm on Saturday, September 22; the Bop Island Big Band with Polly Gibbons at 4pm on Sunday, October 21; Ted Rosenthal & His Trio at 4pm on Sunday, November 4; Bop Island Big Band Celebrates the Music of Slide Hampton at 4pm on Sunday, November 18; and the Bop Island Big Band with Randy Brecker at 4pm on December 16.

In Clifton Park, the Upstate Concert Hall welcomes the Wonder Years on Saturday, November 3. The show kicks off at 6:30pm with Have Mercy, Oso Oso, Shortly and Roxbury. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $22 in advance; $25 at the door.
