In support of their upcoming album, Life in the City (slated for release on September 28), Brooklyn-based nine-piece funkateers Turkuaz roll into Putnam Place in Saratoga Springs on Saturday, October 6, incorporating elements of R&B, psychedelic pop, gospel, Afro-pop, new wave, classic rock and just about any musical genre that gets people dancing. Butcher Brown opens the show at 9:30pm. Priced at $20 in advance; $22 at the door, tickets go on sale at 10am Friday (August 24). Also at Putnam Place, Wyclef Jean, founding member of The Fugees, returns at 9pm on Saturday, September 15 on his Carnival Tour. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $40 in advance; $47 at the door.
Dave Alvin & Jimmie Dale Gilmore team up at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock at 8pm on Friday, November 2. Priced at $30 & $50, tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (August 24).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Linda announced another half dozen new upcoming concerts, including Tin Can Alley, Shawn Holt & The Teardrops, Mamadou Kelly, Darden Smith, Mississippi Heat and a Skalloween dance party with the Big Takeover and The Scofflaws.
Roots rockers American Nomads take over the stage at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock at 9pm on Friday, October 19. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $20 in advance; $25 at the door.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: In North Adams, MASS MoCA unveiled its fall/winter season of theater, film, talks and concerts by Tune-Yards, U.S. Girls, Bonnie Prince Billy, Angel Olsen, Julianna Barwick, The Decemberists, Marissa Nadler, Harold Lopéz-Nussa, “Nach Und Traüme,” Shareef Keyes & The Groove, “I Am a Seagull,” Chicago City Limits, Wilco’s Glenn Kotche (with Jon Hamm!) and more.
The Park Theater in Glens Falls has lined up a batch of new shows, including the a cappella singing and traditional dance group Black Umfolosi from Zimbabwe at 7:30pm on Thursday (August 23). Tickets are $18 in advance; $20 at the door; kids $10. Also on tap are Seattle grunge tribute band Jet City at 7:30pm Saturday ($20 in advance; $22 at the door); Billy Wylder at 7:30pm on Saturday, September 1 ($17); and singer-songwriter David Wilcox with Girl Blue at 7:30pm on Friday, September 21 ($27 in advance; $30 at the door).

POSTPONED: The Yardbirds’ fall concert tour that included a stop at The Egg on Friday, November 9 has been cancelled. A new spring tour date in 2019 will be announced soon, including a make-up date at The Egg.
