You’re not likely to get a chance to see Jackson Browne in a more intimate setting than the Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, where he’ll be joined by the Midnight Ramble Band at 8pm on Friday & Saturday, August 17 & 18. Priced at $100 & $175, tickets go on sale on Friday (July 13) at 11am (for the August 17 concert) and 12noon (for the August 18 concert. A limited number of standing room tickets are available via a ticket request period now through Thursday (July 12) at 12noon. If you do not secure tickets through the lottery, you will be informed on Thursday afternoon in advance of Friday’s on-sale. Also at Levon Helm Studios, Lake Street Dive will return at 8pm on Friday, November 16 i support of their new album, Free Yourself Up. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (July 13), priced at $60 & $90.
The super Supersuckers are celebrating their 30th anniversary with the Big Show Tour, and they’re planning a stop at the Hangar on the Hudson in Troy at 7:30pm on Sunday, September 30. True to their word, the Big Show will feature a country set plus their Smoke of Hell and La Mano Cornuda albums performed in their entirety… and more! Yikes! Tickets go on sale on Friday (July 13), priced at $15 in advance; $20 at the door.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Palace Theatre is bringing the headbangin’ guitar extravaganza, Generation Axe, to town featuring an all-star slate of fretmasters including Steve Vai, Zakk Wylde, Yngwie Malmsteen, Nuno Bettencourt and Tosin Abisi. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (July 13).
Also down in Woodstock, Colony plays host to a newly announced batch of shows, including the Heartless Bastards’ Erika Wennerstrom with Patrick Collins at 8pm on Tuesday, August 7 ($15 in advance; $20 at the door); eclectic reedman Don Byron & Friends at 8pm on Friday, August 17 ($20 in advance; $25 at the door); the funky Tuba Skinny at 8pm on Monday, September 3 ($15 in advance; $20 at the door); and singer-songwriter Caroline Rose at 8pm on Friday, September 14 ($12 in advance; $15 at the door).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Egg has had a busy week. First, they announced four new concerts – “Letters from Home” (featuring America’s Bombshell Duo, Courtney Groves & Erinn Diaz), Vusi Mahlasela’s “Township,” the subdudes and John Scofield’s 66 Combo. Tickets are on sale now.

Yup, the Bearsville Theater presents the one and only Kinky Friedman at 8pm on Thursday, July 19 ($30 in advance; $35 at the door); the return of 3 (for bandleader Joey Eppard’s birthday bash) at 9pm on Saturday, September 1 ($20 in advance; $25 at the door); and the Linda Ronstadt tribute Rita Harvey’s Heart Like a Wheel at 9pm on Saturday, September 29) ($25 in advance; $35 at the door).

Acclaimed jazz guitarist Gene Bertoncini teams up with the Greater Nippertown rhythm section of drummer Michael Benedict and bassist Mike Lawrence for a trio performance at the Van Dyck in Schenectady at 8pm on Saturday, July 21. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $20.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Then The Egg announced two more new concerts – Over the Rhine and Sister Sparrow & the Dirty Birds. Tix on sale to the general public at 11am on Friday (July 13).
Presented by Jazzstock, the all-female Afro-Cuban jazz band Jane Bunnett & Maqueque will be making a tour stop at the Senate Garage in Kingston at 8pm on Friday, July 27. Advance tickets are available now, priced at $30.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Times Union Center is hosting a night of hip-hop featuring Ludacris with August Alsina. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (July 13).
On the comedy front, the Woodstock Playhouse is hosting an evening with Colin Quinn as a benefit for the Woodstock Land Conservancy, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary. The night of laughs will take place at 7pm on Saturday, August 25. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $25 & $45; VIP $75.
Proctors’ GE Theatre hosts the Triple Threat Talent Tour is proud to present Broadway star Amy Spanger with “Dance Moms” star Lilly K at 6pm on Saturday, August 4. They’ll perform in a live show with guest performers from across the US. Hundreds of performers have submitted their talents, but only 25 top notch routines were selected to perform. 6pm. $15 & $30.
CANCELLED: The ’80s tribute band Jessie’s Girl was slated to take the stage at The Egg on Saturday night (July 14), but they’ll have to wait til another time to make their Greater Nippertown debut. The concert has been cancelled.
