Theeeey’re baaaack… Local heroes the Clay People are stepping back into the spotlight with a hard-hitting all-ages show at Chrome in Waterford at 7pm on Friday, August 24. Sharing the stage will be Frozen Sun, I Recant and Renewal of Faith. Tickets are available now, priced at $15 in advance; $20 at the door.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Unbroken Train – featuring Phil Lesh & the Terrapin Family Band, Midnight North and Twiddle – will make a stop at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock this summer. Tickets go on sale at 11am on Friday (July 6).
Originally scheduled for the lawn at the Saratoga Casino Hotel, FLY 92’s SummerJam was cancelled last month, but now another radio station is bringing a one-day festival to the venue. Presented by 100.9 The Cat, The Cat’s Big Cookout will feature performances by Lee Brice, Frankie Ballard, the James Barker Band and Clare Dunn, as well as Greater Nippertown favorites Big Sky Country and Skeeter Creek on Sunday, September 2. The fest will run from 1-9pm, and tickets are on sale now, priced at $25; VIP $75.
Down in Hudson, the Half Moon plays host to two concerts by Malian musicians. Mamadou Kelly steps into the spotlight at 8pm on Friday, July 27 ($TBA), and Sidi Toure takes the stage at 8pm on Monday, July 30, in support of his new album Toubalbero on Thrill Jockey Records ($10).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: After the Sweetheart of the Rodeo 50th Anniversary Concert (featuring The Byrds’ founding members Roger McGuinn and Chris Hillman with Marty Stuart & His Superlatives) sold out on Tuesday, September 18, The Egg announced a second concert, and tickets are now on sale.
The Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park has added a couple of new shows to its calendar. Johnny 2 Phones & Suave the Don team up to headline on Saturday, July 14 with Souly Had, Hank $tackz and DJ Hunna G opening the show at 7:30pm. Tickets are $13 in advance; $15 at the door. And California reggae band Iration lands on Tuesday, October 2 with Common Kings and Katastro opening at 7:30pm ($20 in advance; $23 at the door).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The inaugural Dirt Farmer Festival is slated for Arrowood Farms in Accord, featuring the Midnight Ramble Band, Amy Helm, Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams, Hiss Golden Messenger, Terry Reid, the National Reserve, Gail Ann Dorsey, Zach Djanikian and Brendan McDonough.
Mettabee Farm & Arts in Hillsdale is hosting several concerts this summer, including Kittel & Co. at 7:30pm on Friday ($20; kids $10); Keith Murphy & Maeve Gilchrist at 7:30pm on Thursday, July 19 ($20; kids $10); and Bruce Molsky at 7:30pm on Saturday, September 8 ($TBA).
Jupiter Hall in Guilderland has bolstered its line-up with a batch of new announcements, including Cane Hill and King 810 at 7pm on Friday, July 27 ($15 in advance; $17 at the door); For the Fallen Dreams at 6pm on Thursday, August 9 ($15 in advance; $17 at the door); Traitors at 6pm on Wednesday, August 15 ($15 in advance; $18 at the door); and Tom Petty tribute band Damn the Torpedoes at 8pm on Saturday, December 29 ($20).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Maverick Concerts in Woodstock has announced the summer’s Jazz at the Maverick season, including performances by Kitt Potter & Bright Moments Ensemble, Bettina “Poet Gold” Wilkerson, Fred Hersch & Gilad Hekselman and Nilson Matta Brazilian Voyage Quartet.
The Schaghticoke Fair has announced the headliners for this year’s fair – country musicians Brandon Lay at 7:30pm on Friday, August 31 and Keith Anderson at 7:30pm on Monday, September 3. Both shows are free with fair admission.
Rob Garrett performs his Neil Diamond tribute dinner show at the Rivers Casino & Resort Event Center in Schenectady on Wednesday, August 8. Dinner at 6:30pm; showtime at 7pm. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $15.
