MUSIC: New York State’s 4th of July Celebration @ Empire State Plaza, Albany. Greater Nippertown’s biggest fireworks display lights up the sky at 9:15pm. And before that, it’s music by Soft Spoken (4pm), Moriah Formica (5pm) and ’90s hitmakers Smash Mouth (7:45pm). FREE.
ART/DANCE PARTY: Bright Future Bar-BQ @ Basilica Hudson, Hudson. The second annual celebration of art, food and community is hosted by artist Jack Walls. Art installation by Andrew H. Shirley and reception from 4-6pm (FREE), followed by HifiBangalore’s Exploding Inevitable Dance Party with DJ Tedd Patterson and Uncle Rudy beginning at 6pm ($5).
MUSIC/FUNDRAISER: James Taylor & His All-Star Band @ Tanglewood, Lenox. Yes, sweet Baby James is back at Tanglewood, which is where he’s been on the Independence Day holiday for years now. And, yes, as usual, the concert – a benefit for Tanglewood – is sold out. 8pm.
THEATER: The Sound Inside @ Williamston Theatre Festival’s Nikos Stage, Williamstown. Emmy, Golden Globe and Tony Award winner Mary-Louise Parker stars in this world premiere drama by Pulitzer Prize finalist Adam Rapp, directed by David Cromer. 4pm. Through Sunday, July 8.
THEATER: The Closet @ Williamstown Theater Festival, Williamstown. Tony Award winner and Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Matthew Broderick stars in this world premiere comedy by Douglas Carter Beane, directed by Mark Brokaw. 4pm. Through Saturday, July 14.
MUSIC: David Lutkin & the Seat of the Pants Band @ Mr. Finn’s Cabaret at Barrington Stage Company, Pittsfield. Featuring great American songs by Stephen Foster, James Bland, Joe Hill, Jimmie Rodgers, Maybelle Carter, Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly and Pete Seeger. Also at 8pm Wednesday. 8pm. $30 & $35.
MUSIC: Dark Desert Eagles @ Rivers Casino & Resort’s Mohawk Harbor Amphitheater, Schenectady. Eagles tribute band. 7pm. FREE.
