Fresh from his headlining performance at Mountain Jam last weekend, Sturgill Simpson has been added to the line-up of the Outlaw Music Festival at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Sunday, September 23. Of course, the fest already boasted a mighty impressive slate of previously announced performers, including Willie Nelson & Family, Neil Young & Promise of the Real, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real and Particle Kid. Ticket prices range from $45-$299.50.
Also fresh from Mountain Jam, the Record Company will return to Greater Nippertown on Wednesday, October 24 for a show at the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park. Madisen Ward & the Mama Bear open the concert at 8pm. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (June 22), priced at $20 in advance; $23 at the door.
The Troy Savings Bank Music Hall is playing host to the internationally acclaimed Soweto Gospel Choir at 7:30pm on Thursday, December 6 for a special concert, “Songs of the Free: In Honor of Nelson Mandela’s 100th Birthday.” Priced at $25, $37, $45 & $55; students $20, tickets will be available exclusively to Music Hall members at 10am on Thursday (June 21) and will go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (June 22).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Lookin’ ahead to January, Panic! At the Disco is scheduled to make a tour stop at Albany’s Times Union Center with Two Feet opening the concert. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 12noon on Friday (June 22).
Colony in Woodstock has bolstered its concert calendar with a primo handful of new shows, including Fishbone at 8pm on Sunday, August 26 ($25; VIP $40); Clap Your Hands Say Yeah at 8pm on Saturday, September 15 ($20 in advance; $25 at the door; on sale at 10am on Friday); and Ted Leo at 8pm on Sunday, September 16 ($15 in advance; $20 at the door).
Club Helsinki in Hudson welcomes Real Estate at 8pm on Thursday, September 13 ($TBA), as well as Miss Coco Peru’s “The Taming of the Tension” cabaret show at 8pm on Sunday, October 7 ($25-$35).
ANNOUNCED… AND CANCELLED: Just last Friday, British blues legend John Mayall was announced for a return concert to the Cohoes Music Hall on Tuesday, September 11, but now his tour has been cancelled through the end of September due to continuing complications from a bout of pneumonia. So the Cohoes show has been cancelled, as well as his scheduled performance at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock on Wednesday, September 12, although there’s been no official word yet from the venue.
Rooney is slated to make a stop at Albany’s Hollow Bar + Kitchen at 9pm on Wednesday, September 19 as part of their Cosmic Interlude Tour. Tickets are on sale now priced at $18 in advance; $20 at the door.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Egg plays host to the Steven Page Trio, led by the former member of Barenaked Ladies. Opening the show will be Wesley Stace (aka, John Wesley Harding). Tickets go on sale to the general public at 11am on Friday (June 22).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Two new shows have been announced for the Palace Theatre – “Lord of the Dance; Dangerous Games” and Jason Mraz & Toca Rivera’s Live in Stereo Tour with Gregory Page. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (June 22).
In support of their new album, Used Future, The Sword is headed into Jupiter Hall in Guilderland on Friday, August 3, with Ume opening the show at 8pm. Tickets are priced at $17 in advance; $20 at the door.
CANCELLED… AND MOVED: The concert by Magic Dick & Shun Ng, originally scheduled for The Egg in Albany on Friday, August 17, has been cancelled. However, the dynamic harmonica-and-guitar duo are now scheduled to performing at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs at 8pm that same evening.
The Amy Helm Acoustic Trio – also featuring Zach Djanikian and Adam Minkoff – takes over Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock on Friday, July 6. Mike + Ruthy open the show at 8pm. Tickets are on sale now priced at $45, $60 & $70.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Cohoes Music Hall serves up an evening of bayou blues with virtuoso slide guitarist and bona fide Louisiana guitar legend Sonny Landreth this fall. And if you can’t wait that long to see him, he’ll also be playing with John Hiatt & the Goners at The Egg on Friday, August 24.
CANCELLED: Joywave was originally slated to play the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park on Thursday, August 2 with Grandson, but that show has been cancelled due to scheduling conflicts.
POSTPONED: The Broadway and Beyond cabaret show by Marin Mazzie & Jason Danieley, which was originally scheduled for Sunday (June 24) at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington, has been postponed due to health issues. The new performance date is still TBA.
It’s a tango dance party at Bearsville Theater in Woodstock when the Buenos Aires-based new wave electro-tango dance band Tanghetto makes their Hudson Valley debut at 8pm on Saturday, July 7. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $30; VIP $55.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Vibraphone master and Albany native Stefon Harris and his band Blackout are scheduled to play a homecoming show at The Egg in support of their upcoming album, Sonic Creed.
Singer-actor-comedian-dancer-songwriter-game show host Wayne Brady steps into the spotlight at Rivers Casino & Resort in Schenectady at 8pm on Friday, August 24. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $35, $45, $55 & $65.
