MUSIC: The Heather Pierson Acoustic Trio @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. Based in New Hampshire, the trio brings their skills and down-to-earth honesty to bear on original songs and choice covers that bring to life the sounds of the streets of New Orleans and the valleys of Appalachia. 8pm. $20.

THEATER: La Ronde @ the Frear House, Troy. Troy Foundry Theatre presents a site-specific adaptation of Arthur Schnitzler’s controversial play directed by Brenna Geffers, who has been hailed for her immersive theater direction. Originally written and banned in 1890’s Vienna, this new production reexamines the original hypocrisy and nihilism while deconstructing assumptions of gender and orientation. Sexy stuff. 8pm. $15; students and seniors $10. Through Saturday, June 9.

MUSIC: Marcia Ball @ the Upper Room, Albany. Piano poundin’ long tall Marcia Ball rumbles into downtown to fire up an evening of Gulf Coast blues, boogie woogie and honky tonk in support of her new album, Shine Bright. 8pm. $30 & $40.

FESTIVAL/FILM: Berkshire International Film Festival @ various locations, Great Barrington and Pittsfield. Highlighted by a tribute to Academy Award-winning actor Rachel Weisz that includes a screening of her new film new film, “Disobedience” and Weisz in conversation with New York film critic David Edelstein at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center at 7pm.

THEATER: Typhoid Mary @ Barrington Stage Company’ St. Germain Stage, Pittsfield. Matthew Penn directs Mark St. Germain’s searing drama about Mary Mallon (aka Typhoid Mary) and the controversy surrounding her steadfast conviction in her beliefs. The play not only examines the woman behind the myths, but also explores the battle between science and religion. 7:30pm. Through Saturday, June 16.
