“Erma Bombeck: At Wit’s End” Comes to PS21 on Mothers’ Day Weekend [Berkshire on Stage]

PS21: Performance Spaces for the 21st Century in Chatham presents Erma Bombeck: At Wit’s End, a staged reading by Nancy Rothman. This one-woman play is a tribute to the columnist and humorist who lovingly satirized the plight of the suburban housewife. The performances will take place on Saturday & Sunday (May 12 & 13).

From the 1960s to the 1980s, Bomback was a widely-syndicated columnist. She published 15 books, most of which became best sellers. In addition, Bomback used her fame to support the 1978 women’s Equal Rights Amendment.

“For me, this is a chance to re-enter and reanimate a pivotal time in the lives of many American women,” Rothman explained. “It was often one of her columns that ended up on my mother’s refrigerator.”
