MUSIC: Lou Barlow @ Overit, Albany. From Dinosaur Jr to Sebadoh to the Folk Implosion, Lou has been on the forefront of indie-dom. Now catch him in an intimate, up-close performance. 7pm.

VARIETY: “Silly Sidekicks Shenanigans Old Timey Vaudeville Show” @ Sand Lake Center for the Arts, Averill Park. Circle of Friends Players present an original show by Karleen Hayden. It’s a delightful and wacky return to the days of vaudeville, where the jokes are hokey, the actors are hammy and the laughs just keep on comin’. 3pm & 7 pm. FREE.

THEATER: Girl With a Camera @ The Church, Troy. The next installment of Troy Foundry Theatre’s Dark Day Monday readings features a play by B.A. Nilsson, directed by Erica Tryon. The play focuses on Ivy Wilmot, an acclaimed photographer, and her fractious relationship with gallery owner Jeanne Morris; with her father, Julius, an optical engineer with a secret government affiliation that Ivy is asked to betray; and FBI agent Lester, whose friendship with Ivy forces him to question his loyalties. 7:30pm. FREE.

OPEN MIC: Monday Open Mic @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. 7pm sign-up; 7:30pm music. FREE.

WORKSHOP: Songwriters Circle @ Eden Cafe, Loudonville. Seasoned songwriting veteran Mike Short conducts a 90-minute lesson in honing your skills as a songwriter. Participants will learn an array of skills to help both the novice and the expert. 6:30pm. FREE.
