MUSIC: Mile Twelve @ the Cock ‘N Bull, Galway. The hard-driving Boston-based band walks the line between original and traditional bluegrass. Fast gaining recognition for their outstanding performances in bluegrass and folk circles, Evan Murphy, Bronwyn Keith-Hynes, Nate Sabat, BB Bowness and David Benedict write captivating songs and daring instrumental pieces from diverse influences. 8pm.
MUSIC: Tom Russell @ the Eighth Step at Proctors’ Education Center, Schenectady. The singer-songwriter, painter, and essayist has released 40 highly-acclaimed albums and published seven books, including two books of art and a book of his songs. Tonight marks the CD release party for his newest album, Old Songs Yet to Sing, slated for official release on Frontera Records on Friday. 7:30pm. $30 & $50.
MUSIC: Todd Sheaffer @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. He is a solo artist, as well as the lead vocalist, guitarist and songwriter for the nationally acclaimed band Railroad Earth. His songs are well-crafted stories delivered with outstanding musicianship and strong vocals. 7pm. $24.
MUSIC: Gary Hoey @ the Upper Room, Albany. With a collection of 19 albums under his belt, it’s no wonder why the blues-rockin’ guitarslinger is listed as one of the Top 100 guitarists of all time. 8pm. $15 & $25.
MUSIC: Jeff Mercel @ BSP Kingston, Kingston. The longtime member of Mercury Rev celebrates the release of his new solo album, Lunescapes, Volume One. at BSP Kingston at 8pm on Thursday (May 3). Sharing the stage will be Icelandic vocalist Kristín Anna (formerly of múm), performing music from her song cycle, “I Must Be the Devil.” Expect an evening of intimate, adventurous, piano-driven songs, with and without voice. 8pm. $10. MUSIC: PVRIS @ Upstate Concert Hall, Clifton Park. The Boston-based trio features Lynn Gunn (guitar/vocals/keys), Alex Babinski (guitar/keys) and Brian MacDonald (bass/keys). With Slenderbodies and Candy Ambulance. 7:30pm. $25.
MUSIC: Everyone Orchestra @ Putnam Place, Saratoga Springs. Matt Butler has woven together an all-star jam band featuring members of Furthur, String Cheese Incident, moe., Papadosio and Railroad Earth. 9pm. $25.
