MUSIC: Mary Gauthier @ The Linda, Albany. Her newly released tenth studio album, Rifles and Rosary Beads, features 11 songs co-written with and for wounded military veterans via the SongwritingWith:Soldiers program. Each song on the album is a gut punch: deceptively simple yet emotionally complex. 8pm. $20.

READING/THEATER: “Regrettable Tales” @ Savoy Taproom, Albany. Richard Lovrich reads selections from his darkly amusing collection of very short stories and plays with actors Emily Curro, Ethan Botwick and Alexandra Tarantelli, music by DJ Trumastr Trimingham and magic lantern by Persephone Pomme.

MUSIC: Kamelot @ Upstate Concert Hall, Clifton Park. One of the most unique, influential and prestigious bands to blend symphonic metal, prog, power metal and world music, Kamelot roars into town in support of their new album, The Shadow Theory on Napalm Records. THEATER: “Blithe Spirit” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany. One highly spirited wife is fun, but two is fertile ground for this smash comedy hit of the London and Broadway stages from the witty pen of Noël Coward. Meet cantankerous novelist Charles Condomine (Gary Lindemann), re-married to Ruth (Brenny Rabine) but haunted (literally) by the ghost of his late first wife, the clever and insistent Elvira (Yvonne Perry), who has been conjured up by a visiting “happy medium,” one Madame Arcati (Eileen Schuyler). 7:30pm. MUSIC: Cut Chemist @ Pearl Street, Northampton. Die Cut, the first solo release by the Jurassic 5/Ozomatli DJ since his 2006 critically lauded solo album The Audience’s Listening is an emotionally restorative outlet for legendary DJ as he processed the death of his father. LISTENING PARTY: Rochmon Record Club @ Proctors’ GE Theatre, Schenectady. Abandoning the usual format of focusing on a single album, Chuck Vosganian presents “Tom Petty: An American Boy,” a multimedia presentation that covers the music and life of the modern rock icon. 7:30pm. $10.
