Jazz at the Spring Concert Series Continues in Saratoga

For a while now, Capital District Jazz has been presenting Jazz at the Spring, a monthly series of intimate concerts at the Spring Street Gallery in Saratoga Springs. Tickets for each concert are $15 in advance; $20 at the door.

Here’s a round-up of the upcoming concerts in the series:

CHRIS PASIN’S ORNETTIQUETTE
Thursday (April 26), 7:30pm
Ornettiquette puts a modern spin on the unique harmonic sensibilities developed by Ornette Coleman, a major innovator of the ’60s free jazz movement. Featuring Chris Pasin (trumpet), Adam Siegel (saxophone), Michael Bisio (bass) and Harvey Sorgen (drums).

ARTHUR FALBUSH & THE CDJ ALL-STARS
Thursday, May 31, 7:30pm
The CDJ All-Stars promise an evening of hard-driving swing and familiar melodies, along with a surprise or two from the composers in the group. Featuring Arthur Falbush (trumpey), Keith Pray (saxophone), Scott Bassinson (piano), Lou Smaldone (bass) and Bob Halek (drums).

THE PEG DELANEY TRIO
Wednesday, June 27, 7:30pm
Peg Delaney plays sophisticated piano jazz, drawing from American, Latin and Brazilian idioms. She is a two-time recipient of the New York State Council of the Arts’ Meet the Compoer Grant. Featuring Peg Delaney (piano), Bill Delaney (bass) and Brian Melick (percussion).

THE SARPAY OZCAGATAY TRIO
Thursday, July 26, 7:30pm
From Ankara, Turkey via New York City, the flutist is a stunning virtuoso with a gorgeous tone and monster chops, whose on the first-call list be some of the biggest names in jazz. Featuring Mark Kleinhaut (guitar) and John Menegon (bass).
