ART/DANCE/MUSIC: Paul Metzger @ Collar Works, Troy. In conjunction with the exhibit “Transactional Days,” the gallery presents a free 7pm performance of “Chicken Dance” by Jack Magia and “All Dicks on Deck” by Hana van der Kolk. Then at 8pm, it’s an experimental music concert by musical mavericks Paul Metzger and John Saint Pelvyn. $5.

DANCE: Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo @ The Egg’s Hart Theatre, Albany. Presenting a playful, entertaining view of traditional, classical ballet in parody form and en travesti, this company of professional male dancers performing the full range of the ballet and modern dance repertoire, have established themselves as a major dance phenomenon throughout the world. 8pm. $34.

MUSIC: Johannes Moser @ Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Troy. Troy Chromatics Concerts present the acclaimed cellist accompanied by pianist Andrei Korobeinikov. They will perform works by Prokofiev and Rachmaninoff. 7:30pm. $25 & $35. With a free pre-concert talk at the Hall at 6:30pm.

MUSIC: Anna & Elizabeth @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. The pioneering avant-garde folk duo performs new music from its brand new Smithsonian Folkways album, The Invisible Comes to Us, influenced by Laurie Anderson, the poetry readings of Patti Smith, chopped storytelling inspired by NPR’s Radiolab, Irish folk heroes Paul Brady and Andy Irvine, Dublin group Lankum and the conceptual work of Meredith Monk and Fluxus movement composers. With native Saratogian Ben Davis. 8pm. $24.

READING/OPEN MIC: Readings Against the End of the World @ the UAlbany Downtown Campus’ Husted Hall Café, Albany. The biggest event of the 2018 Albany Word Fest, it’s a 24-hour marathon reading to benefit the South End Children’s Cafe. All word-lovers and writers are invited to share readings – original work or favorite passages, poems and rants, raps and stories, spoken word and personal visions. 7pm.

MUSIC: Gospel Jubilee @ Proctors, Schenectady. The seventh annual jubilee features headliner Gospel’s Greatest Storyteller, Dorothy Norwood, Gospel’s Greatest Storyteller. The evening will also feature a special salute to DJ Edward “Pee Wee” Harris, Albany’s legendary black radio announcer by his grandson, jazz vibraphonist Stefon Harris, as well as the Union College Heavenly Voices Gospel Choir, the Capital Region Jubilee Mass Choir and Jubilee Praise Dancers directed by Reverend Elgin Joseph Taylor, Sr. 7pm. $25. MUSIC: Eastbound Jesus @ Putnam Place, Saratoga Springs. With the Mallett Brothers (featuring special guest drummer Jon Fishman of Phish). Do we need to say more? 9pm. $20.

THEATER: The Gun Show @ PS21, Chatham. The Actors’ Ensemble presents a one-person play by E.M. Lewis, starring Christopher Smith and directed by Robert Consanza. Through the prism of her own personal experiences, the award-winning playwright tells the story of America’s relationship with guns, leaning neither right nor left. 8pm. $25. Through Sunday. TALK: Tony Kushner on Leonard Bernstein @ Bard College’s Sosnoff Theater, Annandale-On-Hudson. The New York Times declared, “Some playwrights want to change the world. Some want to revolutionize theater. Tony Kushner is that rarity of rarities: a writer who has the promise to do both.” The playwright and screenwriter is best known for his Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning plays Angels in America, Caroline, or Change and the screenplay for the 2012 film “Lincoln.” In this conversation with theater critic Alisa Solomon, Kushner will reflect on his relationship to the music of Leonard Bernstein, including his current work with Stephen Sondheim developing a screenplay of Bernstein’s “West Side Story.” 7:30pm. $25. MUSIC: Todd Snider @ The Egg’s Swyer Theatre, Albany. Ever since Todd Snider came on the scene in 1994 with the song “Talkin’ Seattle Grunge Rock Blues,” he has garnered comparisons to songwriting’s satiric best – and continues to keep audiences smiling with Americana albums such as Peace, Love & Anarchy, Agnostic Hymns & Stoner Fables and his most recent release – Eastside Bulldog. 7:30pm. $29.50.

MUSIC: Steep Canyon Rangers @ Levon Helm Studios, Woodstock. The Grammy Award-winning bluegrass sextet (and Steve Martin’s backing band) rolls into town in support of their adventurous new album, Out in the Open, produced by Joe Henry. 8pm. $45 & $75.

MUSIC: Paul Carlon Trio @ Union College Taylor Music Center’s Emerson Auditorium, Schenectady. The Latin jazz combo – featuring Paul Carlon (sax), Wilson “Chembo” Corniel (congas) and Alex Ayala (bass) – plays selections from their album, Tresillio. 8pm. $15.

MUSIC: 420 Funk Mob @ Colony, Woodstock. What better way to celebrate 4/20 than with the 420 Funk Mob, led by Parliament/Funkadelic’s Michael Clip Payne and featuring a revolving cast of all-star musicians who have played with Bowie, D’Angelo, Outkast, Amy Winehouse, Lenny Kravitz, Bad Brains, Bootsy Collins, Kung Fu, Muzik Mafia posse, and, of course, Parliament/Funkadelic members. 8:30pm. $25.

THEATER: “Blithe Spirit” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany. One highly spirited wife is fun, but two is fertile ground for this smash comedy hit of the London and Broadway stages from the witty pen of Noël Coward. Meet cantankerous novelist Charles Condomine (Gary Lindemann), re-married to Ruth (Brenny Rabine) but haunted (literally) by the ghost of his late first wife, the clever and insistent Elvira (Yvonne Perry), who has been conjured up by a visiting “happy medium,” one Madame Arcati (Eileen Schuyler). 8pm. TALK: Marc Guggenheim @ UAlbany’s Page Hall, Albany. The UAlbany alum has helped to transform the landscape of American primetime television as a developer and showrunner of such CW Network shows as “Arrow” (2012-present) and “Legends of Tomorrow” (2016-present). His writing for Marvel Comics includes several series within the X-Men franchise. He is also the author of the novel, “Overwatch,” a CIA legal thriller. He will screen clips of his work for TV and film with commentary and Q&A. 7pm. FREE.
