DANCE: RUBBERBANDance Group @ UAlbany Performing Arts Center, Albany. Merging the fresh pulse of street dancing with the acute aesthetics of contemporary dance, artistic director Victor Quijada’s works explore human relations, focusing particularly on the passion of obsession, the brutality of violence and the delicacy needed for tragedy and comedy. The company will perform “Vic’s Mix” which spans the immense creative territory of Quijada, extracting from the choreographer’s repertoire and remixing his work. 7:30pm. $15.

MUSIC: Sete Star Sept @ Pauly’s Hotel, Albany. Japanese noisecore kingpins. With Human Ignorance and Your Brain on Drugs. 8:30pm. $10.

MUSIC: Soovin Kim @ Williams College’s Brooks-Rogers Recital Hall, Williamstown. The first prize winner of the Paganini International Competition offers a concert of solo works for violin by J.S. Bach: Partita no. 3 in E major; Sonata no. 1 in G Minor; and Partita No. 2 in D Minor. 8pm. FREE.

READING: Rosa Alice Branco @ UAlbany Science Library’s Standish Room, Albany. The acclaimed Portuguese poet – whose work has appeared in translation in more than 40 literary journals around the world – is joined by her translator Alexis Levitin for a reading and Q&A session. 4:15pm. FREE.

TALK: Suzannah Clark @ Williams College’s Bernhard Music Center Room 30, Williamstown. The Harvard professor delivers a lecture titled “Cupid’s Arrow and the Conventions of Song in the Medieval Motet.” 4:15pm. FREE.
