W.A.M.M.: Women Are Making Music @ the Low Beat
Women Are Making Music (W.A.M.M.) is a new, Albany-based organization that promotes the professional development of women musicians by providing education, networking and performance opportunities. Embracing diverse perspectives and genres of women’s voices in music, the organization intends to present a series of concerts and networking events throughout Greater Nippertown featuring female musicians and speakers.
W.A.M.M.’s inaugural event will be an open mic session at the Low Beat in Albany from 4-7pm on Sunday (March 25) with sign-up beginning at 3:30pm. Co-hosted by Deb Cavanaugh and Nicole Suto, the open mic is open to any female musicians or female-led bands, affording all performers a chance to network and get to know each other personally and as musicians.
There will be a cover charge of $5 at Sunday’s event to help fund the organization’s future events. Everyone is invited to attend and support women’s music.
