MASS MoCA Announces New Concert
Celebrated indie rockers Grizzly Bear join the summer concert line-up at MASS MoCA in North Adams, performing at 8pm on Saturday, June 16. Grizzly Bear is touring in support of its first new album in five years, Painted Ruins.
With humble beginnings as the home recording project of Boston-bred singer-songwriter Edward Droste, Grizzly Bear — now also including multi-instrumentalists Daniel Rossen, Christopher Bear and Chris Taylor — first made waves with the 2004 release of Horn of Plenty. In the ensuing years the quartet’s prog-rock-meets-chamber-pop sound took the music world by storm and helped to define a new wave of psychedelic-leaning sound with their following six albums. Their first new album in five years, Painted Ruins dropped last August, making 2017 year-end lists in Rolling Stone, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and USA Today. Rolling Stone declared, “Fully charged and ready to break new ground, this is the kind of post-hiatus comeback most bands’ fans only dream of.”
Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (March 9), priced at $33 in advance; $41 at the door; $51 preferred.
