THEATER: “Paris Time” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany. It’s opening night! Gordon Greenberg directs the world premiere of Steven Peterson’s dramatic thriller. A couple’s peace, a young woman’s life and a company’s fate are challenged by an anti-Semitic terrorist incident. 7:30pm. Through Sunday, February 18.

THEATER: “The Bodyguard” @ Proctors, Schenectady. It’s opening night! Grammy nominee and multi-platinum R&B/pop recording artist Deborah Cox stars as Rachel Marron in the musical based on Lawrence Kasdan’s 1992 Oscar nominated film and adapted for the stage by Academy Award-winner Alexander Dinelaris (“Birdman”). 7:30pm. $20–$85. DANCE: The State Ballet Theater of Russia @ the Palace Theatre, Albany. It’s the full-length four-act ballet “Swan Lake” with music By Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov. 7:30pm. $38, $48, $58 & $68.

READING: Gish Jen @ New York State Museum’s Huxley Theater, Albany.The prize-winning chronicler of the Chinese-American experience reads from her new work, “The Girl at the Baggage Claim: Explaining the East-West Culture Gap,” which explores the stark differences between Eastern and Western ideas of the “self.” 7:30pm.
