Elton John has announced that he is retiring from the road with a lengthy farewell tour that will stretch into 2021.
The 70-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer will say goodbye to his fans with the three-year Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, which is scheduled to kick off in September and land at Albany’s Times Union Center at 8pm on Friday, March 1, 2019 – more than a year from now.
“I’m not going to be touring anymore,” he said at a press conference in New York City on Wednesday. “I’m not going to be touring and traveling the world. My priorities have changed. I have young children.
“That doesn’t mean I won’t still be creative, but I won’t travel any more…I don’t want to go out with a whimper. I want to go out with a bang…It’ll be the most produced, fantastic show I’ve ever done.”
Tickets for the Albany concert are slated to go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday, February 2, priced at $49.50, $124.50 & $224.50.
