Byron Nilsson & Malcolm Kogut Ring in 2018 at Steamer No. 10 Theatre [Berkshire on Stage]
Put the ravages of 2017 behind you with a program of songs ranging from the apocalyptic to the merely silly, performed by cabaret stalwarts Byron Nilsson and Malcolm Kogut in their second annual New Year’s Eve appearance at Steamer No. 10 Theatre in Albany. It’s a 7pm show on Sunday (December 31), so you’ll get out early enough to find another party. And it costs a mere $15, which is less than you’ll spend on a decent bottle of champagne.
You’ll hear songs by Randy Newman, Noel Coward, Flanders & Swann, Tom Lehrer and others, with an unlikely but compelling intrusion by Vladimir Nabokov. The turn-of-the-(last)-century epic “Those Wedding Bells Shall Not Ring Out” will chill the blood, while “Come Home Father” will drive you to drink. And the doomsday finish is sparked by “20 Tons of TNT.”
