MUSIC: Gaelynn Lea @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. The classically trained violinist and singer-songwriter was awarded the second ever Tiny Desk Contest for NPR in 2016, a competition drawing submissions of original songs from more than 6,000 musicians. In addition to performing, Gaelynn is also a public speaker who addresses the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. Gaelynn has Osteogenesis Imperfecta, or Brittle Bones Disease, a genetic condition that causes complications in the development of bones and limbs. 7pm. $20.
MUSIC: Matt Flinner Trio @ the Cock ‘N Bull, Galway. They’re back! Multi-instrumentalist Matt Flinner won the National Banjo Contest at Winfield, Kansas in 1990, and took the mandolin award there the following year. He returns to Galway with his new acoustic/roots music band which also features guitarist Ross Martin and bassist Eric Thorin. 7:30pm.

MUSIC: Spyro Gyra @ The Egg’s Swyer Theatre, Albany. Fusing together jazz, R&B, funk and pop music, Spyro Gyra, led by founder Jay Beckenstein, is still going strong nearly 45 years since they brought jazz fusion into the mainstream with over 30 albums that have sold over 10 million copies. 7:30pm. $34.50.

READING: John Freeman Gill @ UAlbany’s Page Hall, Albany. The New York Times contributor is the author of the acclaimed debut novel “The Gargoyle Hunters,” an emotional story of a father, a son and the mystery of a brazen and seemingly impossible architectural heist. 7:30pm. FREE.
MUSIC/DISCUSSION: Listening Party @ Bethlehem Public Library, Delmar. It’s like a book club, but for music. Bethlehem librarian Michael Farley facilitates the discussion about Frank Sinatra’s classic 1858 album, Only the Lonely, a collection of torch songs that was Sinatra’s personal favorite of all his albums. 7pm.
