Phoebe Legere, What Was the First Album You Ever Bought?
“The first album I bought was Wanda Landowska’s Well Tempered Clavier, Book One. She was a great, great foremother of the harpsichord. That was my first purchase on LP, of course. I bought it at a church fair.
“And when I first heard it, I just fell down on my knees and said, ‘God, if I could ever play anywhere close to that, that’s all I ask from you in this life.’ ”
Pop/cabaret keyboardist Phoebe Legere performs at the Weimar New York show at Club Helsinki in Hudson at 8pm on Sunday (October 15). Hosted by Kate Rigg, the evening will also feature opera singer-writer-actor-performance artist Joseph Keckler, composer-“negro gothic” performance artist M. Lamar, the banjo-wielding Curtis Eller, multimedia artist Alexis O’Hara; burlesque performer Nada Phoenix Wood, larger-than-life trans-genre performer Jordan Arsenault and special guest Isis Vermouth. Tickets are $25.
